Consumers told to read small print

The small print in consumer contracts increasingly contains unfair clauses, the Beijing News reported. When you buy an apartment, you will incur a 10% penalty if you fail to pay on time, but if the apartment is delivered late, the developers will only pay 0.1%. Wedding photo studios charge extra for giving you the negatives of unselected photos. When you give birth in a hospital the contract may state that bottles, baby clothes, quilts and other necessities must be bought from the hospital.
Shopping malls refuse to change discounted and special offer goods. Restaurants don't allow diners to bring their own drinks. Most people accept the conditions because they don't want to make a fuss. 86% of consumers surveyed said that even if they complained it wouldn't make any difference.
