Chinese Li wins 3 golds at weightlifting worlds

Chinese Li Yang won all three gold medals in the women's 75kg class in the Junior World Weightlifting Championships in Sofia on Saturday.

Li, who was the last Chinese participant in the championships, snatched 102kg and jerked 129kg for a combined weight of 231kg to win the the golds.

Julia Zavgorodnyaya of Russia took the silvers at a total of 226kg, 98kg in the snatch and 128kg in the clean and jerk competitions.

Maria Fernanda Valdes of Chile settled for the total bronze medal at 217kg. She also took the bronze in the jerk at 122kg, while Ukrainian Ganna Kozenko placed third in the snatch competition at 97kg.

The junior's weightlifting worlds opened on Monday. In the six women's categories where Chinese weightlifters participated, they swept all 18 gold medals, namely Wu Yanmei in the 48kg class, Chen Xiaoting in the 53kg, Deng Mengrong in the 58kg, Li Yating in the 63kg, Kang Yue in the 69kg and Li Yang in the 75kg.
