As Ghana prepares to welcome world boxing legend Larry Holmes on July 30, the most exciting part of the visit Ghanaians have been looking forward to is the scheduled exhibition bout between the legend and Ghana' own former World Boxing Council (WBC) Super-featherweight champion, Barima Azumh (the zoom, zoom) Nelson.

The former world champion is scheduled to pay a 5-day cultural visit to Ghana from July 30 to August 5 to celebrate African boxing and promote tourism for Ghana.

Esi Yankah of Yankah and associate official organisers of the historic visit told Xinhua that the visit was being organised by the Nii Guate Foundation in partnership with Larry Holmes Enterprises of the United States, Nuumo Guate Peace Foundation, Agu Resources and Village Communications in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ghana.

As one of the highly distinguished sons of black Africa, Larry Holmes was IBF/WBC world heavy weight champion between 1978 and 1985 and the second longest ringing world heavy weight champion of all time.

Holmes will also hold a boxing clinic for boxers at the Accra Sports Stadium and visit some important dignitaries as well as visit important historical sites of the country.

The climax of the event will be a durbar at Bukom Square in Accra where event organisers will honour the visiting legend and Muhammad Ali while they also launch the Larry Holmes Boxing Museum here.
