Myanmar to send 95 athletes to Guangzhou Asian Games

Ten Myanmar sports teams with 95 players will compete in the upcoming 16th Asian Games to be held in China's southern city of Guangzhou from Nov. 12-27, the local Biweekly Eleven News said Thursday.

Myanmar will take part in 10 sports events - swimming, archery, track and field, billiards and snooker, boat-race, sepak takraw, shooting, volleyball, weightlifting, and Wushu.

Myanmar athletes are trying both mentally and physically to get success in the event.

In the 15th Asian Game held in Doha, Myanmar competed in eight sports and get four silver and seven bronze medals.

Meanwhile, Myanmar archery team started to participate in Asia Games in Busan 2002 and grabbed 13 gold medals in the 4th South-East Asia archery contest held in Yangon September 2010.

In the 22nd SEA Game in Vietnam in 2003, Myanmar pocketed five gold medals, while in the 2nd Hong Kong International Wushu Championship in 2007, Myanmar Wushu players grabbed 11 medals.
