Torch Relay of Asian Games in Foshan

Asian Games torch "The Tide" was relayed in Foshan City of Guangdong Province, which is one of the three co-host cities of the 16th Asian Games. Foshan is the final leg of the 24 Torch Relay cities outside Guangzhou.

In Foshan Gymnasium, the World Gymnastic Champion Huang Liping started the relay when he got the torch from Foshan Municipal Party Secretary Chen Yunxian. The World Champion once made the Olympic oath on behalf of all judges and officials on the opening ceremony of Beijing Olympic Games.

Foshan is nationwide famous as the hometown of martial arts, where generations of martial arts masters such as Huang Feihong and Ye wen were brought to birth, as well as the international super star Bruce Lee. Boxing will be held in Foshan from November 16 to 26.

The oldest torchbearer, 100-year-old Kuang Yongshao was the brilliant star among the 80 torchbearers. He said, " Beacause our country is becoming stronger and stronger, I could be so lucky to witness such asports pageant and be a torchbearer".

At 10:30am, the last torchbearer Hu Xiaoyan lit up the cauldron in Foshan Aquatics Centre. 15 days later, three gold medals for aquatics will be given to their winners.

"The Tide" finishes its relay in Foshan and completes its travel in the 24 cities outside Guangzhou. On November 5, it will return to the host city Guangzhou and start one-week relay.
