Ding Junhui cruised into the quarter-finals of Welsh Open with a 4-0 drubbing of Scott Donaldson.

Ding, who is bidding to equal the record for the most ranking titles won in one season, will now play Sheffield teenager Joel Walker, who shocked defending champion Stephen Maguire in an entertaining 4-3 win.

The 19-year-old Donaldson barely troubled Ding at any stage as the Chinese ace powered in breaks of 128 and 86 to seal his comfortable success.

In Thursday's other games, Ronnie O'Sullivan completed a 4-1 win over Ricky Walden to set up a quarter-final showdown with John Higgins.

Mark Selby was also a 4-1 winner against Ali Carter in the last 16 as he set up a match with Joe Perry, who edged out Stuart Bingham 4-3.

John Higgins clinched a thrilling 4-3 victory over Judd Trump to set up a quarter-final showdown with Ronnie O'Sullivan at Welsh Open.
