Sun Yue of Beijing goes up against Xinjiang's James Singleton. |
Xinjiang Flying Tigers powered past Beijing Ducks 92-81 for their first win in the best-of-seven CBA Finals at the Beijing Wukesong Arena yesterday to cut the series deficit to 1-2. Xinjiang had lost both the home games.
Former Boston Celtic's Lester Hudson scored a game-high 24 points and 12 rebounds for Xinjiang. Beijing's Stephon Marbury, bothered by an injured knee, grabbed 23 points and 8 rebounds.
The Tigers led the game with a 3-point advantage at 49-46 at the end of the first half. They strengthened the lead to 7 points at 71-64 in third quarter, and kept the advantage, never dropping below 6 points.
Xinjiang arrived in Beijing aware that no other team fought back from a 0-2 deficit to win the title in the CBA's 18-year history. Beijing will host the next two games on Wednesday and Friday before going back to Xinjiang.
