Top 10 Chinese cities with best landscapes 2011

Lhasa was named the city with the best landscape in the country this year by the China Urban Competitiveness Ranking released by the China Institute of City Competitiveness (CICC) in July.

Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu Province, and Tai'an, Shandong Province, rank second and third.

The list ranks Chinese cities for their unique landscapes, including the harmony between man and nature, the combination of ancient and modern, the use of different colors, and natural and man-made landscapes.

Here are the top 10 cities with best landscapes ranked by CICC:

   Pingxiang, Guangxi (广西凭祥)

Longji Terraces in Pingxiang

Pingxiang, a county-level city of southwest Guangxi Province, is located on the border between China and Vietnam. With 97 kilometers border line, the city has a population of 100,000, including 16 minority ethnic groups. The most popular attractions around Pingxiang are Jinji Mountain, Baiyu Cave, Youyi Pass, Liangshan Mountain and Longji Terraces.

Getting there: From Nanning, take a bus from Jiangnan Bus Station to Pingxiang.
