 Hammer Price: US$35.68 million

Egon Schiele's cityscape painting-"Häuser mit bunter wäsche (Vordatdt II)", or "Houses with Colorful Laundry (Suburb II)", made US$35.68 million at Sotheby's London on June 22, 2011, a new record for the Austrian expressionist artist. The 100.5cm x 120.5cm oil on canvas was created in 1914 when Schiele was at the prime of his short life and career. Four years later, the artist died of flu at the age of 28.
