Harvard's history, influence, and wealth have made it one of the most prestigious universities in the world. Founded in 1636, the university is the oldest institution of higher education in the United States. It has an enrollment of over 20,000 degree candidates, including undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. As of 2010, Harvard employs about 2,100 faculties to teach and advise approximately 6,700 undergraduates and 14,500 graduate and professional students. It has more than 360,000 alumni around the world, including eight US presidents, and 30 Nobel Laureates.
