University of Pennsylvania, established in 1740, is an American private Ivy League research university located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It considers itself the fourth-oldest institution of higher education in the United States, as well as the first university in the country to offer both undergraduate and graduate studies. In the last ten years, nine Penn faculty members or graduates have won a Nobel Prize, and many distinguished alumni, including presidents and supreme court justices have been produced by the university.
