Apple Inc. undoubtedly continues to be the most innovative company in the world this year, according to New York-based business magazine Fast Company.
In this year's rankings, American companies still took the lead, with 9 companies in the top 10, 18 in the top 20, and 40 in the top 50.
China has two companies included on the list: Tencent, the biggest and most diversified Chinese Internet company (ranked 8th) and Greenbox, a Shanghai-based fast-rising children's clothing company (ranked 17th).
Fast Company, established in November 1995, is a business media brand which focuses on innovation in technology, ethical economics, management and design. To compose its annual Most Innovative Companies ranking, the magazine assesses thousands of businesses worldwide on the basis of creativity, real-world impact, risk taking and execution.

Industry: Clean energy
SolarCity, founded in July 2006 by brothers Peter and Lyndon Rive, is now a national leader in clean energy services. Among its primary services, the company designs, finances and installs solar energy systems, performs energy efficiency audits and retrofits and builds charging stations for electric vehicles. Thus far, the company serves thousands of customers in 14 states throughout the country with 31 operational centers.
