Tibetan Stone Carving, one of the 'Top 10 Chinese archaeological discoveries in 2013' by China.org.cn

Tibetan Stone Carving [Xinhua]

Three large Tibetan stone carving groups were found in Shiqu County in Sichuan Province. The carvings feature classic Tibetan style, ranging from the end of the 8th century to the early 9th century. There are a total of 17 pictures, most of them related to Buddhism, including Five Dhyani Buddhas, Samantabhadra and Tara. The well-preserved relics provide precious information for the study of Buddhism arts and culture as well as the relationship between the Tang Dynasty and the Tibet.
