Snow and ice sports and winter tourism activities have been heating up on the freezing plateau of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region since Beijing 2022. The growth index of Urumqi's winter tourism ranked first in China in early 2022, according to the online tourism platform TravelGo.

Xinjiang features unique ice and snow tourism resources with a snow season spanning nearly five months. Its mountainous region also provides excellent geographical conditions for constructing high-end natural ski resorts.
