Canadians: 'Lao Gan Ma', Chongqing spicy strips
"When I first tasted ‘Lao Gan Ma’, (a household brand of spicy chili and black bean sauce) in Changsha, it was fantastic! Therefore, I bought a dozen bottles of the sauce before I went home” says a Canadian independent filmmaker, whose Chinese name is Wei Zhiyi. Since then, he takes some Lao Gan Ma every time he visits a new place. Another Canadian, whose Chinese name is Zhang Dalin, lived in China for three years. Every time he went back home, he bought ‘Latiao’ spicy strips - a kind of Chongqing snack. He says that he just can't stop eating them.
