Ningxia launches English language website

The head of Publicity Department of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Yang Chunguang, and vice president of China.org.cn, Wang Xiaohui, spin a crystal ball to launch Ningxia's English language website (http://www.china.org.cn/travel/Ningxia/node_7108171.htm) prepared by China.org.cn, March 1, 2011.

"Magic Ningxia, Oasis in the loess highlands" (Link: http://www.china.org.cn/travel/Ningxia/node_7108171.htm), the Ningxia channel of China.org.cn, was officially launched on March 1, 2011 in Yinchuan, capital city of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

The English-language website includes news, interviews, descriptions of the region's Islamic culture, descriptions of Ningxia's cities, and guides to travel, government and investment. It presents a vivid picture of Ningxia to the world through a mix of high-definition photos, videos and articles.

"We need a broad platform to extend the reach of our cultural soft power," said Yang Chunguang, head of Ningxia's Publicity Department. “We want to take advantage of the rich broadcasting experiences of China.org.cn to make Ningxia better known to the world."

Yang said the launch of the Ningxia channel is a great step forward in showcasing the region and its people, especially the culture and customs of the Hui people.

As one of the key state news websites in China, China.org.cn offers wide-ranging, up-to-date news and information about China in 10 languages. Its audience is drawn from more than 200 countries and regions.
