Wuzhong to hold International Kite Contest

The Wuzhong International Kite Contest will be held on Apr 29 and 30 at Shengyuan Square, Wuzhong City, in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. The contest is organized by Wuzhong City government, and has attracted over a hundred competitors from 16 countries, including America, Britain, Korea, Japan, Australia and Russia.

According to the Bureau of Culture, Sports, Radio and Television of Wuzhong City, kites in the contest will feature all types of characteristics including huge, delicate, beautiful and grotesque. Types of kites featured include the soft wing kite, hard wing kite, modern kite and traditional kite. The wide diversity includes 100 meter-long dragon-shaped kites, as well as butterfly, airplane and sailboat-shaped kites.

Cheng Wenrong, secretary general of the China Kite Association will oversee the contest, which will also feature informational lectures for kite aficionados.
