Companies in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region are scrambling to register popular brands and products, such as Ningxia Wolfberry, Shapotou Tour and Long Jujube in Lingwu, as wireless website addresses. The emerging domestic mobile Internet market was worth 63.7 billion yuan (US$9.8 billion) last year, and more and more companies set out to register industry words to squat a share in the market. Exclusive and commonly used industry words will help companies take preemptive opportunities and shape the layout of mobile Internet, analysts say. More than 600 companies of Ningxia have succeeded in registering wireless website names since the end of 2004, when west-china.net, a company offering website and domain name registration service, opened in Ningxia. The registered wireless websites will help companies expand their brand assets, capture business opportunities more swiftly and attract a large number of potential customers to conquer the highest position in the market, analysts say. This year, around 350 companies registered wireless websites in the region.
