The rise in food price mainly contributed to the 7.2 percent increase of Ningxia's Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the first half of this year from a year earlier, said the data recently released by the Ningxia Branch of the National Bureau of Statistics.

The region's food price in June grew 16.8 percent from last year, fueling 5.2 percent rise in the region's CPI.

The capital city Yinchuan saw a 0.5 percent increase in CPI in June, 1.1 percent higher than the rise in May.
