The added value of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region’s cultural industry is expected to reach 4.7 billion yuan (US$756.2 million) in 2012, with an increase of 18.8 percent compared to 2011 figures, according to Ningxia Statistics Bureau on January 9, 2013. It accounts for 1.96 percent of regional GDP, 0.08 percentages higher than the figure in 2011.

The government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region has reformed its management related to cultural undertakings over the past years, and has achieved great accomplishments. Cultural tourism, publication and distribution, film making and other traditional cultural industrial sectors are developing steadily. In addition, cultural innovation, digital publishing, mobile multimedia, animation games and other new emerging cultural industries have also mushroomed rapidly in the region.
