The high-tech industry in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region has achieved a lot over the past five years as the government has kept on deepening the area’s scientific and technical structural reform.

The government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region has allocated 2.7 billion yuan to scientific research funding over the past five years, 7.81 times of the figure between 2002 and 2006. There were more than 200 scientific research institutions across the region by the end of 2012, and research resources have been optimized, with the scientific competitiveness of Ningxia enterprises greatly sharpened. There were nearly 30,000 scientists and technicians and 44 high-tech enterprises in the region by the end of 2012. The new high-tech enterprises have greatly promoted the rapid development of the Ningxia economy.

To transform scientific and technological achievements into real productive forces is greatly encouraged through the establishment of the Ningxia Inland Opening-up Pilot Economic Zone and Yinchuan Comprehensive Bonded Area.
