A total of 11 cultural tourism industry projects, worth an investment of 9.12 billion yuan (US$ 1.47 billion), are on the agenda of Xixia District in Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, for further approval, according to the district government.

The Xixia District, which carries many historical and natural tourist attractions under its administration, currently plans to expand the eastern foot of Helan Mountain into an ecological Muslim travel resort in collaboration with several Arabian countries.

The disctict’s agri-tourism received 5924 visitors in 2012 and tourism revenues totaled at 431,500 yuan. All of the district’s tourist attractions received 200,000 visitors during the National Day Golden Week last year, with ticket sales totaling at some 11.57 million yuan, according to the area’s tourism bureau.
