The Huoshizhai Danxia Landform Natural Reserve in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region was approved as a National Natural Reserve by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, according to a recently-held conference.
With a total area of 9795 hectares, the Huoshizhai Natural Reserve is renowned for its Danxia landforms, featuring red-colored sandstones that have been eroded into a series of mountains. The natural reserve began construction of tourism facilities in 2002 and currently is the largest Danxia landform in northern China.
