The Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in northwestern China was recently named as one of the must-visit destinations on the New York Times’ “46 Places To Go in 2013” list. Together with Paris, Rio de Janeiro, Casablanca and many other world-renowned tourist destinations, Ningxia ranks 20th on the list for its beautiful scenery and high-quality wine production.

In recent years, Ningxia’s flourishing wine industry has made the Eastern Foot of Helan Mountain a rising star among wine production places around the world. The article in the New York Times emphasized that Ningxia could produce the best wine in China. The Eastern Foot of Helan Mountain was just awarded the “Best New Arrival” for wine production bases around the globe by the Hurun Research Institute. It had also won the award of top region for producing wines during the 2012 China Wine Awards held by French wine magazine Revue du Vin de France last year.

Apart from Ningxia, Jilin Province’s Changbaishan Mountain in northeastern China also ranks 27th on the list for its nascent ski industry and a newly-opened large-scale ski resort.
