The April 22 was the 44th Earth Day. To celebrate this special day, the Ningxia Office of Land and Resources and Ningxia Geological Society, together with other units and organizations, held a promotional activity themed ”Value Earth Resources, Transform Development Mode, Promote Ecological Civilization and Jointly Build a Beautiful China” in the Guangming Square in Xingqing District, Ningxia.
According to research, global environmental conditions have been continually deteriorating over the past 30 years. Changing the economic development mode now has become more urgent than ever. To address this problem, Ningxia set up an assessment system to control construction land supply for generating one billion yuan in GDP and fixed asset investment. It is now expected that by the end of the 12th Five Year Plan, the use of construction land for per unit of GDP would be cut back by 31 percent from that of 2011.
