As an important part of the first China-Arab States Expo, the 6th Chinese Hui Merchants Conference will be held from September 13 to 17 in the "hometown of Chinese Hui ethic group," Wuzhong City, in Ningxia.

During the conference, the Hui entrepreneurs will strengthen the friendly bonds, exchange ideas and enhance cooperation.

According to Li Xuewen, deputy mayor of Wuzhong City, the city has been identified as a permanent venue for the Chinese Hui Merchants Conference and has successfully hosted it for four successive years thus far.

Li said, “Compared with previous years, this Conference will cancel the Muslim Food Culture Festival and replace it with the first Chinese Muslim Snacks Cultural Festival and performances of renowned international Muslim culinary chefs. In addition, this year will witness the establishment of the Chinese Hui Merchants Chamber of Commerce and continue to hold the Muslim Industry Forum, where domestic and foreign experts will give themed speeches on Muslim industry trends, Muslim food and products industry gathering area and on the construction of a national Muslim industrial park.

The Muslim population in Wuzhong City, in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, accounts for 52.6% of the city’s total population, which is the highest proportion in prefecture-level cities. Therefore, it is veritably the “hometown of Hui minority.”
