Recently, the Scientific and Economic Development Forum on National Counties took place in Hangzhou. Helan County, together with 35 more counties, has made remarkable contributions to promoting the scientific and economic development of counties, thus being awarded the title of “National Distinctive County for Its Scientific and Economic Development.”

The awards were presented to the winners after a year-long evaluation and selection process as undertaken by the China Association of Township Enterprises, Leisure Agriculture and Rural Tourism Branch of China Tourism Association and Rural Development Center of the Ministry of Agriculture. Pingluo and Helan County were the only two Ningxia counties winning awards this time. This year, Helan County planned to fight for a number of projects as to accelerate the pace of economic development of the county. From January to October, Helan County pocketed revenue worth 1.107 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.7 percent; the number of completed projects is 136, that of new projects 94 and that of ongoing projects 42, completing a total of 12.339 billion yuan in fixed assets investment, a year-on-year increase of 29 percent.
