Representatives from the Yinchuan Municipal Government and the Alibaba Group, China’s e-commerce giant, exchanged views on e-commerce business development and expressed their intentions for cooperation during a high-level forum held in Yinchuan on February 25.

Statistics show that the sales volume of Ningxia specialties and Muslim food through Taobao.com totaled around some 700 million yuan in 2013. Chen Qingdao, president of Taobao.com, explained how the current online specialty products in Ningxia are not varied and more opportunities could be explored across the sector.

Chen also proposed that Yinchuan City should fully use the development opportunity of a cross-border e-commerce trade pilot city to cultivate more e-commerce talents, build related industrial parks and business institutes.
