A forum with the theme “Big data, statistics and services” was held in the city of Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, on Aug. 8.

More than 10 of China’s top-level industry specialists and scholars and 400 other representatives from the IT, financial and education fields attended the forum to discuss cutting edge points related to industry development, products and tools.

A series of measures have been implemented in Ningxia to accelerate the big data development and the autonomous region has entered the big data era. A public opinion big data survey activity was launched in April in Ningxia.

The Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Government signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Alibaba Group, China’s e-commerce giant, in May to jointly build Ningxia into an important point along the Silk Road Economic Belt.

On July 25, the Ningxia Tourism Bureau and the National Tourism Administration jointly held the Online Silk Road Cooperation Conference to initiate an intelligent tourism project in Ningxia. The Yinchuan Zhongxing Big Data Center began construction on Aug. 7, marking a new step towards the big data era in Ningxia.

The forum is expected to summarize the development trend of the big data industry in Ningxia, according to Fu Guojun, the president of the Ningxia Mingxinda Statistics Office.
