According to the information published by Ningxia Statistical Bureau on January 23th, the permanent resident population reached 6.6154 million by the end of 2014, with the urban population of 3.5465 million. To compare with the data published in 2013, the urban population had increased by 143,700, with the urbanization rate growing 1.6%.

The statistics shows that the population has gathered to the urban areas quickly, the economy is stably advancing to integration from dual economy of urban and rural areas, and people’s life has stepped into modernization from the traditional ways. The development of the economic society is pushed forward by the new-type urbanization.

The urbanization gap between Ningxia and the whole country has been narrowed, which shows the improvement of the general level of the moderately prosperous society in Ningxia.
