A total of seven gold award-winning wines were unveiled at a summing-up meeting of the 2015 East Helan Mountain Area International Wine Expo in the city of Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui autonomous region, on Sept 8.

The gold prize winners include a Huida Chateau’s 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, a 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon from Xi Xia Wang Yuquan International Chateau, a 2013 dry red wine from Helan Qingxue Chateau, Lanyi Chateau’s 2013 Merlot, a 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon from Wenjia Chateau, Cheng Cheng Domaine’s Jing Jia wine, and a 2014 chardonnay dry white wine from Hedong Vineyard.

These winners stood out owing to their color, scent and taste from 78 wine candidates from the chateaus on the east side of Helan Mountain. They were brewed between 2012 and 2014, each having a stock of more than 10,000 bottles.

According to the organizers, notaries and the expo’s staff selected six bottles randomly from each of candidate winery’s stock as samples and two of the six bottles received a blind review at random by the jury consisting of international wine experts, and the results were based on their average scores.

Also at the summing-up meeting, the administrative committee of Helan Mountain East Grape Industry Zone signed an agreement with Ningxia’s Wuzhong city to develop grape and winery. It will join hands with one of the European leaders in the organization of trade fairs and shows in France -- Comexposium’s Shanghai branch, to host a wine-making technologies and equipment expo.

Other contracts signed between enterprises and organizations in China and abroad range from research on grape planting, wine trade, equipment procurement to factory design.

Meanwhile, there was a launching ceremony for an invitational contest, which has attracted 60 wine makers from 21 countries to showcase their skills later this year in Helan Mountain area.

As an important part of the China-Arab States Expo, the East Helan Mountain Area International Wine Expo has been held four sessions. The annual event serves as a platform to increase communications for technicians, experts, exhibitors and traders from all over the world. It also brings latest technologies and equipment, as well as professionals and new ideas for the region, hoping to provide greater exposure and business opportunities in China and abroad to local wine industry.
