Day 2 Leshan Giant Buddha-Mt Emei

Transport

Car or bus from Leshan to Mt Emei along the Chengdu-Chongqing Loop Line Expressway and the Leshan-Hanyuan Expressway.

Tips

The best seasons to visit Mt. Emei are spring and autumn, when the climate is mild and the scenery at its captivating best.

Mt Emei is high and precipitous, and in the interests of conserving energy, it is advisable to take a tour bus halfway up the hill before setting out on foot. Be careful - the monkeys there, whilst seemingly cute, are mischievous and entirely unafraid of people, and are very likely to try and snatch things from you, so keep a safe distance from them.

The peak of Mt Emei is at altitude 3,099m, so people intending to hike to the top need to be well-prepared for the cold conditions. In favorable weather it is possible to travel light all the way to the summit at Jinding where padded clothing is available for rent.

Day 3 Mt Emei-Chengdu

Transport

Take the Mt-Emei-Chengdu tour bus for the return trip to Chengdu – about three hours
