Lei Kaifen, a resident of Lushan's Dahe village, said she happened upon the panda on July 20 and continued to see it in a nearby bamboo grove the following week.

The panda looked like it was pregnant with a round belly, Lei added.

The local forestry bureau verified the panda's presence and said it hadn't left the area yet, but they couldn't confirm if it was pregnant.

It's the second time a live wild panda has been discovered in Lushan after the 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck the county on April 20, 2013, according to Li.

The Chengdu Evening News reported that a panda was seen crossing a river in Dachuan town of Lushan in February.
