Chengdu tops national tourism destination ranking

Chengdu City topped the ranking of the national tourism destinations in the first half of 2015, according to a report recently released by Mafengwo.cn, a Chinese tourism social media website.

70 percent of the tourists to Chengdu went there for its famous gourmet food, the report found after analyzing the most viewed posts, results of search and comments by its 80 million users nationwide.

Local speciaties, including Long Chao Shou (wonton), soft tofu and Sichuan noodles with peppery sauce, were the top three most popular snacks among tourists.

Kuanzhai Alley, a popular nightlife area, is rated the No. 1 attraction in the city. It's followed by Jinli and Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding.

Some of the top ten most popular tourism destinations include Qinghai Lake in Qinghai Province and Qingdao City of Shandong Province.
