The Greater Shangri-la Tourism Promotion Alliance was established on November 16 at the opening ceremony of the Sixth Sichuan International Road Trip Expo in Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province.

The alliance, initiated by Sichuan, was joined by the three neighboring provincial regions of Sichuan, Yunnan and Tibet. It's set up with the aim of promoting integrated regional tourism and developing the Greater Shangri-la region into a world-famous tourist destination through joint efforts.

The Greater Shangri-la region, which covers most areas of southwest Sichuan, northwest Yunnan and southeast Tibet, is dubbed the "last pure land on the blue planet" for its quality eco-tourism resources and unique cultural and historical heritages.
