Yi ethnic beauty pageant held in Liangshan
The final of the 2016 China (Xichang) Traditional Yi Ethnic Beauty Pageant was held at the Torch Square of Xichang, Capital of Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan on July 28.
Seventy-three good-looking Yi youths from 17 counties and cities of Liangshan competed for the championships.
The contest consists of Yi costumes display, self introduction and talent show. A judging panel of local elders selects the female and male champions.
With a history of more than 1000 years, the traditional Yi ethnic beauty pageant is one of the most important and characteristic activities of the annual Torch Festival.
The beauty pageant was part of the 2016 Sichuan International Cultural Tourism Festival which took place in late July.
