The county government administrating the Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area in Sichuan signed a contract to develop a suspension light rail system in the world-famous scenic area on Friday.

The contract was signed during the Sichuan International Tourism Investment Conference in Chengdu.

Passengers will be able to have a bird’s-eye view of Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong scenic areas when riding on the rail and be greeted by wild golden monkeys when they get off the rail.

The project, which will cost 3.45 billion yuan, is also expected to ease traffic pressure of the scenic areas in peak seasons.

Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area also signed a contract with Club Med on the same occasion to build a resort there.

The resort, with an investment of 550 million yuan, will feature diverse mountain activities such as exploring wild golden monkeys and pandas, trekking in nature, adventuring through forests, mountain bike cyclin, and drifting.
