The Fifth Global Travel E-Commerce Conference (GTEC 2016) opened Monday in Dujiangyan, Sichuan with the theme of “Internet Plus Travel.”

The annual event, which brings together top-notch innovative teams from all over the world, is a major platform for exchanges and cooperation among people and companies in the business of travel e-commerce.

In addition to the usual agenda, this year’s session also features a high-tech exhibition. VR games, smart equipment and technologies used for live broadcasting of scenic spots have attracted much attention from participants and audience.

The technology to take 720-degree multi-dimensional aerial photographs, designed by Sichuan Feng Guang Qi Ji Technology Company, has wowed administrators of many scenic areas and other people in the business of travel.

The technology can present a panorama of a scenic area through aerial shots and allow tourists to watch the cream of a scenic area as well as its folk customs in a perspective they are normally unable to have.

Combining the latest video technologies with travel is a must for Sichuan’s tourism industry, industry analysts said.

Integrating Video Plus, VR, big data, cloud computing and Internet Of Things with travel experiences will help maximize a tourist’s perception and is a foreseeable Blue Ocean Strategy for the tourism industry, they suggested.

The event lasts three days.
