2016 China Shengzhong Lake Fishing Contest kicks off

The 8th China Shengzhong Lake Fishing Contest kicked off on Friday at the Shengzhong Lake Scenic Area of Nanbu County, Sichuan.

Two hundred teams of 1000 players from China, U.S., Britain, Australia and seven other countries and regions compete in the event which is sponsored by the General Administration of Sport and China Fishing Sport Association and lasts five days.

The 2016 National Fishing Masters Tour (Southern China Stop) and the 2016 Shengzhong Lake International Boat Fishing Contest were held simultaneously.

The three events altogether offer 800,000 yuan in prizes, with the champions claiming one fourth of the amount.

Colorful cultural and tourism activities also took place to display the scenic area’s charm.

The events attract more than 200,000 visitors per year.
