A tour around Sichuan by panda fans from across the world, one of the activities organized under the “Beautiful China, more than pandas”campaign, ended on June 30 at the Sichuan Cuisine Museum.

The tour was sponsored by the National Tourism Administration of China and organized by Sichuan Provincial Tourism Development Board.

Before the closing ceremony began, the fans learned how to make paper-cut and Sichuan Opera facial mask under the instruction of professional teachers at the museum so that they could better experience Sichuan’s distinctive folk culture.

The panda fans said the tour had enabled them to not only see the beautiful landscapes of Sichuan but also get a deeper understanding of Sichuan’s folk culture, promising to promote Sichuan’s tourism resources and distinctive culture through their respective platforms when back to their home countries.

A representative of the Chengdu branch of China Youth Travel Service, which worked with another local company to execute the tour, said, “We have prepared souvenirs with Sichuan’s distinctive features for the fans so that they can often think of this tour when back in their countries. I hope they can bring their families and friends here should the opportunity arise.”

The tour took participants on a journey back in time by giving them the opportunity to walk down the old streets and watch historical buildings to feel Sichuan’s history and ancient civilization. It also presented to them Sichuan’s vitality and robust development today.
