Thirty one tourism projects, belonging to 20 cities and prefectures as well as 28 county-level divisions of Sichuan, secured altogether 86.9 billion yuan in investment at the Third China (Sichuan) International Tourism Investment Conference that opened in Chengdu on July 26.

These projects are primarily for the purpose of integrating tourism with agriculture, culture, health preservation and transportation, and will involve the construction of holiday resorts, countryside tourism complex, tourism industry park, tourist towns and camps for self-driving tours.

They are expected to further transform and upgrade Sichuan’s tourism industry, push forward the supply-side structural reform of the agricultural industry and play an important role in stabilizing growth, advancing reform, restructuring the economy and improving people’s livelihood in Sichuan.

Panzhihua and Guangyuan, the two featured cities of the conference, landed contracts worth 26.6 billion yuan for six projects.

Eleven of the projects, with a contract value of 15.2 billion yuan, or 17.5 percent of the total, are aimed at alleviating poverty in poor counties.

Three of the projects will see their investment exceed 10 billion yuan each.

Sichuan also promoted its major tourism projects awaiting inbound investment for the first time at the conference.

As the highest-profile, biggest and most-highlighted event of its kind in Sichuan, the conference has attracted the participation of such famous enterprises as China Tourism Group, China Youth Travel Service, JLL, Australia’s Village Roadshow and FISE.

The Southwestern University of Finance and Economics released the White Paper for Tourism Investment in Sichuan (2017). JLL released the Outlook on Tourism Investment in Sichuan (2018-2020). Beijing Equity Exchange released a register of Sichuan’s major tourism projects seeking inbound investment.

The results of the selections of the Top 10 most investment-worthy tourist destinations in west China, the Top 10 mountain tourism destinations in west China and the Top 10 tourist destinations for health preservation in west China, the Cities and prefectures with most tourism investment in Sichuan, and the Enterprises leading tourism investment in Sichuan were also announced at the conference.

Guests held high-level talks surrounding the two main themes of tourism for health preservation and tourism-oriented finance.

Investors and journalists will also visit Panzhihua, Guangyuan and Leshan to inspect their prime tourism projects.

In July 2015, Sichuan hosted China’s first International Tourism Investment Conference as a trailblazing effort to attract outside investment. The conference serves as a vehicle for Sichuan's endeavors to set up mechanisms, attract big investors and launch projects. It has gradually brought Sichuan to the attention of worldwide investors and helped translate the province’s abundant tourism resources into productivity.
