Have you made plans for the upcoming autumn? How about travelling to Huanglong Creek Ancient Town in Chengdu to attend the Third Chengdu Tianfu Ancient Town International Art Festival due to open on August 18.

“Culture is the living soul of an ancient town,”an official of Shuangliu District, which administered Shuanglong Creek Ancient Town, told West China Metropolis Daily.

The three-month event introduced international elements for the first time this year. Foreigners were involved in the designing of activities, the presence of foreign experts were requested and foreign troupes were invited to stage performances.

Artists and artistic works from over ten countries including France, Russia, Belarus, Italy, South Korea and Singapore will be present at the festival.

A number of original works, including a folk music suite, a musical sitcom, and a series of theme songs, were created by famous Chinese musicians and play writers and directors to greet festival-goers. Based on the culture of the Huanglong Creek Ancient Town and its surrounding areas, the works were intended to foster the Tianfu Ancient Towns brand, a collective term for all the ancient towns of Chengdu.

Chengdu’s 27 ancient towns will join hands to exhibit their distinct products and attract outside investment in their tourism and cultural projects during the event.
