Tips for visitors to the 50th Chengdu Panda Lantern Festival

From Feb. 10 to March 10, Chengdu’s giant panda themed annual lantern show will be hosted at the Qicai Tianye (iridescent field) scenic area in Jinjiang district as the primary location and Xiling Snow Mountain in Dayi county, west of Chengdu, as the sub-venue.

 

For those who are interested in visiting the sites, here are tips that might be useful.

 

Open time

 

The lanterns will be lit up at the Qicai Tianye scenic area 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm everyday except for Feb. 15, the Chinese New Year’s Day this year.

 

While the venue will open from 11 am to 10 pm, with a wide variety of leisure and sport facilities available for visitors, including amusement facilities for children, equestrian club, vegetable farm, petting zoo, and site for honorable person CS game.

 

Tickets

 

For holidays (Feb. 16 to 22, March 1 and 2):


Full price, 60 yuan; half price, 30 yuan,

 

For other time (Feb. 10 to 14, Feb. 23 to 28, March 3 to 10):


Full price, 40 yuan; half price, 20 yuan.

 

By following the event’s official WeChat and Sina Weibo accounts, visitors may win free tickets to the event among other perks including Sichuan specialties and coupons provided by bike sharing company Mobike and transportation services provider Didi.

 

Holders of the lantern show tickets will be able to enjoy a 40 yuan discount from the regular prices of the skiing passes at the Xiling Snow Mountain. For example, the 400 yuan matinee ticket for weekdays will be available for 360 yuan for visitors holding the lantern show tickets. Please remember this perk applies during the lantern show time from Feb. 10 to March 10, except from Feb. 15 to 21.

 

There are free entrance and half price for the senior, children, servicepersons and students.

 

Transportation

 

Didi’s minibus service will be enlisted to offer discounts for visitors to the Qicai Tianye scenic area.

 

Besides bus services Line 186, 172, and 258, there will also be a direct route linking from Chengren bus stop, and two shuttle routes linking to Global Center (Feb. 16 to 22) and Sichuan Normal University. All these bus lines will run till 11 pm.
