Located north of Chengdu, Guanghan city kicked off its fifth canola flower festival on March 9, at a canola theme park where 2667 hectares’ canola fields turn a spectacular view. The festival is set to run for 40 days in the city.

At the launch ceremony, Sichuan’s leisure tourism association recommended 20 canola flower viewing sites in Guanghan, including in Xigao town, Shuangsha town in Gulin county, Sanxi town in Jintang county and Maikun township in Aba county.

Canola planting and rapeseed production is an important component in the province’s agricultural sector, said the agriculture department of Sichuan.

And the beauty of the sweeping canola fields presents a great sightseeing opportunity in the countryside that contributes to the growth of rural economy in the province.

In 2017, Sichuan’s leisure agriculture and rural tourism industry attracted 352 million tourists, generating revenues of 132 billion yuan, creating 129 million jobs.
