Members of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation kicked off the organization's 2008 Leaders' Week in the Peruvian capital of Lima. The first meeting to take place is the Concluding Senior Officials Meeting. Participants at the gathering say China's development is important to the world economy.

During the two-day Concluding Senior Officials Meeting, participants from 21 APEC members are discussing global financial issues. APEC's support for the WTO Doha Round negotiations, as well as APEC's regional economic integration are also on the agenda.
