Beijing Workers' Gymnasium was abuzz Sunday night with the 9th CCTV-MTV Music Awards. The event, organized by the two top broadcasters, has proven a great success among pop music fans.

The Olympic song "Beijing Welcomes You" took double honors as the Best Single of 2008 and the Best Music Video.

Nineteen awards were handed out at the Sunday gala. Among the awards are Best Single, Best Album, Most Popular Male Singer, and Most Popular Female Singer. This year, organizers took special notice of emerging talents in mando-pop. About half the honors went to up-and- coming young performers.
