Jolin Tsai holds the award trophy for the Most Popular Taiwan Female Singer at the Ninth CCTV-MTV Music Awards.

The Olympic song "Beijing Welcomes You" took double honors as the Best Single of 2008 and the Best Music Video. Another highly prominent composition was the Sichuan earthquake relief song, "Together Through Life and Death".

Wang Pingjiu, songwriter, said, "It is of great significance to chronicle an era through music. Everything will pass, but the tunes will last forever. Music should reflect the spirit of its time."
