The third biggest selling single of the year, selling 536-thousand copies, came from Welsh singer Duffy with 'Mercy.'

Duffy followed 'Mercy' with her debut album 'Rockferry', which enjoyed chart success across Europe. It was the biggest selling album of 2008 according to the Official Chart Company, selling over 1.6 million copies.

2008 brought a string of music nominations for Duffy. The singer was nominated for three MTV Europe awards, a MOBO as well as a Grammy and was won Breakthrough Act at the Q Awards.
