Panda mania to hit small screen
Adjust font size:

Chou claims the series is not an attempt to take advantage of the current panda fever in Taiwan, following the gift of two pandas by the Chinese mainland to the island last December. He insists that the idea for the series was conceived a year ago.

Devon and Yuri-Chan, both members of the Taiwan band Nan Quan Mama, will play the two heroes. Chou himself will play a retired cop, who is also the mayor of Bright City, the fictional city where the story is set.

Jay Chou said, "The mayor has been striving to bring peace, order and welfare to his citizens. The emergence of pandamen also helped the city. I felt like I'm a real mayor who knows Kung Fu."

Shooting of "Pandamen" will begin in Taipei in March, and Chou intends to shoot 30 episodes. Chou turned 30 in January and says he plans to give himself more challenges this year.
