The 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou are still a year away, but the selection for the Games' cheerleaders has already started in Beijing.

The event was jointly organized by CCTV Sports Channel, China University Sports Association and Guangdong Jianlibao group as a promotion for next year's Asian Games. The competition to choose the cheerleading teams will be held in more than one thousand universities and colleges throughout China. It will last for 18 months, from the mass audition to the national finals. At least 30 teams will be selected, with a total of 450 cheerleading students getting a chance showcase their passion and style for sports.
